This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station's vast network of rooms.

The role

As a Civil Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance.

Day-to-day, you'll utilise your expertise in scanning rebar depth and positioning. Collaborating across departments, you'll receive specialised training on innovative equipment as well as, diving into design reviews and risk assessments, gaining invaluable exposure within the organisation. You'll also be responsible for:

  • Coordinating all works relating to rebar scanning.
  • Providing technical advice on concrete condition and analysis of rebar position/depth reports.
  • Creation of workflows to support RFIs raised if rebar position clashes with post installed anchor plate position.
  • The implementation, and development of risk assessments, method statements and procedures for all works relating to the installation of post installed anchor plates.
  • Liaising with the Survey and Building Leads in relation to workflow, as well as with the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor ensuring regular flow of information to comply with meeting the requirements of CDM.

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time 37 hours per week, and is based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.

Essential experience of the Civil Engineer

  • Experience as an Engineer on a RC (Reinforcing Concrete) project.
  • Proficient in the interrogation of 3D models.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, 2D, and 3D.
  • Proficient in the use of drawing set-up in accordance with national standards and best practice guidelines.

Qualifications for the Civil Engineer

  • Bsc Civil Engineering or similar degree (e.g. Construction, Engineering Design)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
