Rolls-Royce Submarines powers the UK’s nuclear underwater defences, helping create a safer, stronger, and more forward-thinking future for us all.
Bringing together some of the best and brightest engineers, as well as world-class functional staff, we have designed, supplied and supported the nuclear propulsion plant for all of the UK Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines for over 60 years. As a company that’s at the very forefront of nuclear innovation and development, we’re looking for the brightest minds to push the possibilities of nuclear forward.
With new satellite offices opening and the growth of our existing Derby facilities, there’s never been a better time to explore new opportunities in nuclear. Whether you want a job that sustains the environment and has some real green credentials or help protect UK shores, there’s a role for you at Rolls-Royce Submarines.
The UK Royal Navy has maintained a Continuous At Sea Deterrence capability since 1969, in the form of the current Vanguard class submarines and its predecessors. This means that there is a submarine providing the ultimate nuclear deterrent, protecting the UK 24/7, 365 days a year – all powered by Rolls-Royce. In addition, we have powered all of the Royal Navy’s attack submarines since HMS Valiant was launched in 1963.
As one of our engineers, you could be involved in designing and substantiating the safety of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant, working across reactor cores, primary systems pipework and valves, major vessels, and the electronic control systems. Our teams also maintain parts of the secondary equipment, including the turbo-generators and propulsors
