The role
As a Radioactive Waste Infrastructure Control Officer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. We provide a service to all projects across the site managing and disposing of both routine and novel waste streams.

Day to day, you'll liaise with projects in the planning and execution phase giving us insight into all the work being undertaken.

  • Acting as a core member of the control of work team, liaising closely with everyone who wishes to undertake work in our radioactive waste handling facilities
  • You will review work instructions and release work when it is safe to do so
  • Ensuring that all work undertaken in our facility is done so safely
  • Briefing people of the safety standards in our facility and ensure that work completed is to the required standard
  • Working closely with the Authorisation team with opportunities to learn about other facilities on the site and other disciplines within work control

Essential experience of the Radioactive Waste Infrastructure Control Officer:

  • Previous experience of working within a maintenance, plant, facilities, or operations environment
  • A positive attitude toward Control of Work, conventional safety and compliance
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office
  • Good interpersonal skills. Comfortable to discuss technical issues with a variety of people
  • Happy to challenge working practices to ensure personnel and product safety

This is a full time, permanent role based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard with occasional working from home.

Qualifications for the Radioactive Waste Infrastructure Control Officer:

  • Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent (experience or qualification in an equivalent STEM subject) - beneficial

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
