The role:

As a Facilities Operative, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary including the installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance, and repair of a range of equipment.

Day-to-day, you'll support the self-delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities across the Royal School of Military Engineering Estate (RSME). To ensure that statutory and mandated requirements are met within legal and contractual timescales.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Carry out all aspects of fabric and mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Predominantly (but not limited to) basic plumbing, painting and fabric repair, legionella prevention tasks, gutter clearing, meter reading and lots more.
  • Undertake installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance and repair of a range of equipment, as part of planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes
  • Responsible for the quality of your own work, possibly others' and ensuring the work is completed safely, meets stakeholder quality, time and budget requirements, whilst maintaining the efficient running of equipment

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based onsite at Minley, Hampshire.

Essential experience of the Facilities Operative:

  • First principles relating to the operation and maintenance of appropriate plant and equipment
  • Relevant industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures covering a range of plant and equipment

Qualifications for the Facilities Operative:

  • Level 2 English and mathematics
  • Driving licence

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
